So I went to check my CollarMe messages today, and was greeted with a very strange sight…
If you don’t want to take the time to read over everything, it appears there was a contractual dispute between the owner of the domain name and the owner of the servers leading to the site itself being replaced with the above. The new page that the collarme.com address leads to contains the domain owner’s side of the story. As always in a broken business and friendship, this should be taken with a grain of salt.
This sudden upheaval has left many users concerned about the security of their pictures and personal information. You too might be wondering, if your data is secure, or if you might end up compromised should the dispute become messier. The holder of the collarme.com domain says that she does not have any control over the profiles left on the servers her former partner owns. She goes on to say “None of your information has been altered, compromised, or sent into random cyberspace due to my redirecting the domain.
It is as safe as it has always been.”.
For those of Y/you wondering where to go from here, the original collarme.com site is up and functioning, including all data at www.collarspace.com so if you either want to continue using your account, or want to delete your data it is available there. Alternately you could avoid the repercussions of any further maneuvering by moving over to fetlife.com or society31.com.
For now, We’ll all just have to watch and wait.
